Teaching Hebrew Literary Texts on the Topic: "Between Parents and Children" – A MOFET JTEC Webinar
Source: MOFET JTEC Webinars
MOFET JTEC - Jewish Teacher Education Community of The MOFET Institute is proud to present an online webinar to the global Jewish education community with Dr. Nurit Nathanel on Teaching Hebrew Literary Texts on the Topic, "Between Parents and Children" on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 - 7:00-8:30P.M. - Israel time. 12:00 – 13:30 EST.
This free webinar will deal with the analysis of a Hebrew literary text about the relations between parents and children. We shall read a short story from Israeli children’s literature, define its themes, interpret it by learning and applying the relevant literary terms, and speculate about when it was written. This webinar will be conducted in Hebrew.
We shall then suggest pedagogical methods and didactic directions. The lecture will provide a "taste" of the online course, "Selected Works of Hebrew Literature and Ways to Teach Them", which is taught in the framework of The MOFET Institute's Online Academy for Teaching Jewish Studies and Hebrew. During this course, we present considerations concerning the selection of literary works for various target populations, namely, children, adolescents, and adults. The study process is organized according to genres, themes, and authors. The course offers literary analyses of the works along with fundamental concepts and tools for interpreting literary texts.
Dr. Nurit Nathanel holds a lecturer position in the Literature Department and is a pedagogical tutor of Literature Studies at David Yellin College of Education in Jerusalem. Other roles she has fulfilled include coordinating and teaching academic reading and writing skills. She has also served as a member of the middle and secondary school literature team in the Curriculum Center in the Israel Ministry of Education.
