The Yeshiva University Institute for University-School Partnership's Legacy Heritage YUTeach Fellowship has been established to address the need for more dynamic and inspired educators by identifying Judaic Studies teachers who have the desire and capacity for professional development and provide them with the opportunity to leverage their own experience and collective learning with experts in the field. Judaic studies teachers who have been working in the field for a minimum of two years, and have been nominated by a school leader, may apply until March 15, 2013.
Through a highly selective and interactive program, Fellows will build relationships with a national cohort of growth-minded teachers who will challenge and support each other, interact with leaders in the field, and engage in in-depth coursework directly related to a chosen area of their teaching.
The Legacy Heritage YUTeach Fellowship experience is defined by three components:
- Peer Learning in a Cohort of Critical Friends – Through conferences and online convenings, the Fellowship cohort will aim to create a supportive network of teachers dedicated to both their own growth and facilitating the growth of their peers.
- In Depth Coursework – Each Fellow will participate in one of the YU School Partnership’s online Certificate Programs that run from September through June. The Certificate Programs each offer in-depth, sustained study of best practices in one of four areas: Differentiated Instruction, Student Support, Educational Technology and Online/Blended Instruction.
- Access to leaders in the field – Fellows will convene three times to learn together and with the YU School Partnership staff. Fellows will also attend the North American Jewish Day School conference, the premier opportunity to learn, network, and engage with day school leaders from across the spectrum
Fellows who complete the program will be poised to serve as teacher leaders—prepared to impact the field and act as catalysts of innovation and progress within their schools. Teachers who are interested in applying need to be nominated by a leader in their school.
