Facing Crisis: Seminar for Principals of Jewish Schools and Kindergartens

The European Council of Jewish Communities is holding a seminar for principals of Jewish Schools and Kindergartens on facing Crisis in Paris on March 5-7, 2017.

As schools are a central pillar in the resilience of the community, a comprehensive program for the educational system on all levels, has the potential benefits of building resilience in the community and having the educational system prepared for times of crisis. The aim of the program is to train local professionals in the educational system, on basic psycho social concepts in order to enhance Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) in the aftermath of traumatic events, in affected school communities.
The training will provide practical tools to be implemented in the school system. The conclusion of the training will include a scenario based case study, which will help translate the acquired knowledge into practical guidelines for building an action plan to establish educational systems' resilience.

Dr. Shiri Daniels will be prime presenter at the seminar. Dr. Daniels is a lecturer at the Faculty of Educational Counseling, Tel Aviv University and National Director of Counseling at ERAN - Israel's largest hotline for emotional first aid via the telephone and Internet.

Dr. Daniels is an expert in listening skills, supportive conversation, psychology in the digital age, coping with emotional distress and crisis intervention. She is a member of the National Council of Suicide Prevention, has a wealth of experience in short term consulting, group facilitation and emotional first aid via the Internet. As a preparedness, response and resilience expert dealing with national emergencies at ITC (Israel Trauma Coalition), she is an active participant in delegations and training teams in the psychosocial field around the world.
