In 2016-7 (5777), Shosh Hill, from the Kerem Primary school in London, together with the NLI team, created weekly Parashat Hashavua newsletters featuring primary sources from the National Library and many creative ideas for primary school students and their families.

The Shemot (Exodus) resource pack deals with a crucial time period in the formation of the Jewish People. Beginning with the story of slavery, the narrative quickly shifts to the Ten Plagues and is then followed by the Exodus from Egypt. The Egyptian army is destroyed in the Red Sea, and the Jewish People then go on to receive the Torah at Mount Sinai. The rest of the book focuses its attention on the many legalities of Torah, including precise details about the construction of the tabernacle (mishkan). The Book of Exodus thus deals with the formative years of the Jewish People, from a disparate group residing in a foreign land to a nation on its way to its homeland in Israel. This resource pack deals with this exciting time period, by examining primary sources from Israel’s history which link to various episodes in Exodus.
