Jim Joseph Foundation Announces First-Ever Request for Proposals
The Jim Joseph Foundation is conducting its first-ever Request for Proposals (RFP) in two grantmaking areas: 1) Cohort-Based Educator Professional Development Programs in Jewish Education and 2) Leadership Development for Current and Future Leaders in Jewish Education. This RFP process will begin with submissions of Letters of Interest (LOI). The Foundation views the RFPs as an experiment and an opportunity to identify a diverse group of exceptional programs in these areas. Throughout this process, the Foundation also will continue its previous grantmaking activities.

YOU Lead – Prizmah's Leadership Development Program
Prizmah's YOU Lead is an eight-month leadership development program that combines the best of online and in-person learning and covers a wide breadth of topics that leaders grapple with every day. Together with peers, mentors, and top innovators in the day school world, participants reflect on practices and beliefs, challenge assumptions about Jewish education, and dive deeply into the defining issues of Jewish day school leadership in the 21st century.

Join the New Mandel Teacher Educator Institute Cohort 8
The Mandel Teacher Educator Institute (MTEI) is a program that strengthens the Jewish community by developing educational leaders – “teachers of teachers” – who are spearheading powerful and innovative professional development experiences for their institutions and communities. We believe that ongoing, substantive professional development for educational leaders and teachers is central to revitalizing Jewish education. MTEI’s intensive two-year program that consists of six, 4-day seminars with assignments in the field between meetings is a building block toward this goal.

BBYO hosts International Convention (IC) 2017 in Dallas
At a time when many young people are feeling disconnected from institutional life, thousands of Jewish teens have converged in Dallas this weekend for the 2017 International Convention (IC) featuring figures from the worlds of politics, activism, entertainment and business who have aimed to “change the game.” The convention drew nearly 4,800 Jewish teen leaders, educators, professionals and philanthropists from 48 North American states, districts and provinces, and 30 countries, making it one of the largest Jewish communal leadership events in North America and the largest gathering of Jewish teen leaders worldwide.

Jewish Literacy – Unfortunately, it’s Not Enough
We have a problem to overcome: Teacher training and professional development programs that nurture the inner lives of educators are not practical or feasible given the present landscape of Jewish education. The ground needs to be prepared before the seeds can be planted. The first step is to focus on the agents of change: principals, heads of Judaic departments, donors, and foundations – the leadership. We need a paradigm-shift at the top. Our students will not be more spiritually alive than their teachers, and our teachers will not be more spiritually alive than their bosses. If our ultimate goal is to foster the inner lives of our students, then we must foster the inner lives of our educators. To do this – to develop awe and vibrant spiritual lives in our teachers – we first need to foster the inner lives of the Jewish educational leadership and begin the process of real change in a school’s culture

Hillel International Launches New Initiative to Build Talent Pipeline for Jewish World
Hillel International recently announced an ambitious new project that seeks to strengthen the talent pipeline for Jewish organizations through new positions for recent college graduates on campuses across the country. The Springboard Fellowship will train cohorts of young Jewish professionals in highly-valued skillsets and place them at local Hillel campuses for two years. The Springboard Fellowship is a reimagining of the Steinhardt Jewish Campus Service Corps Fellowship, which Hillel ran from 1994 to 2008 and trained a generation of emerging Jewish communal leaders through their roles in Jewish student engagement.

Hartman Institute Summer 2017 Programs: 1917, 1947, 1967: The Legacy of The Past, & The Future of Modern Israel
On the 50th anniversary of the Six Day War, modern Israel is in search of its future. MOFET 2017 Israeli Leadership Seminar for Teachers and Community Executives in the Jewish World
The MOFET International Leadership Seminar in Israel for Jewish educators and community leaders (July 3-12, 2017) will deal with issues and models of Jewish leadership throughout the history of the Jewish people, up to the present time, examining the participants' management and leadership styles and helping them promote community leadership in the roles they are currently performing or will perform in the future.

Shalem College's Fourth Academic Class Continues “Tradition of Excellence”
Shalem College’s second president, Prof. Isaiah M. Gafni, welcomed 53 new students to campus the first week of November, 2016, urging them to “retain the extraordinary passion for learning” that brought them to the college throughout their next four years. Hailing from all parts of the country, and representing a diverse religious and ideological spectrum, Shalem’s over-subscribed Class of 2020 are united by their impressive record of service, commitment to learning, and academic accomplishment—traits that define the college’s first three pioneering classes as well, and “continue Shalem’s tradition of excellence,” in the words of Provost Dr. Daniel Polisar.
