Effective Strategies for Educating and Engaging Jewish Teens
The Jim Joseph Foundation has engaged BTW informing change and Rosov Consulting, LLC to conduct a broad scan of teen and young adult education and engagement efforts from a variety of spheres, including those outside of the Jewish community. The purpose of the scan was to identify examples of programs that are scalable and employ innovative practices, and to identify the components, parameters, structural considerations and limitations of such programs.
Advancing Jewish Early Childhood Education through Coordination and Collaboration
Recognizing the unique opportunities for engagement and education of the population of young Jews (both adults and children!), the Jim Joseph Foundation has awarded grants to a variety of Jewish early childhood education initiatives. As the foundation’s grantmaking has evolved, a particular area of focus is educator training.
Lessons Learned from Developing a New Model for Israel Education - BASIS
BASIS – the Bay Area Israel Education Day School project – is designed to integrate Israel Education across a school’s curriculum, so that it is aligned with each school’s mission and goals, and at the core of each school’s community and culture. BASIS provides a framework that supports students, educators and the greater school community in building personal, enduring connections to Israel and the Israeli people.
The Sephardi Voices History Project Collects Testimony from Jews Who Fled Arab Lands after Israel Was Founded
Sephardi Voices, is an audio-visual history project currently under way to document and archive the testimonies of Jews displaced from North Africa and the Middle East in the 20th century. With branches in Los Angeles, Miami, London, Paris, Jerusalem, and New York, Sephardi Voices has already collected 250 testimonies and is aiming to gather 5,000 in the next five years.
Jerusalem Memories – Based on Google Street View
Taking advantage of Google's release of Jerusalem Street Views in April, 2012, the Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) launched a website, Jerusalem Memories, to allow collecting and sharing personal memories and images of Jerusalem. The site now contains numerous personal memories of Jerusalem inspired by the Google Street View images.
